If you opened the workflow from a shared link, or you are seeing it inside an embedded board on another page, you are in view-only mode. A blue bar across the top says View only mode.
Public links grant read access to that one workflow and nothing else. To edit, you need to be invited to the project the workflow belongs to. If you are signed in, the bar also offers Clone this workflow, which copies it into a project of your own where you can edit freely — useful, but note that the copy is separate and changes will not flow back.
A red This workflow is locked button appears in the toolbar. Setting a workflow to Completed deliberately freezes it against changes, and it also blocks renaming and deleting.
To unlock it, open Workflow Settings from the cogwheel and change the status under General settings. Only the project owner can unlock a completed workflow.
An expired trial, a failed payment or no plan at all puts every workflow into read-only. Your data is untouched. You can still open and export everything, you just cannot change it until the plan is active again.
On the Basic plan there is a separate limit: only three projects are accessible. Projects past that limit show greyed out with a padlock and a prompt to upgrade or delete a project. Check Plan & Billing under your profile icon.
Qlerify staff opening a customer workflow get read-only access with a red banner. If this is you, ask to be added to the project as a member.
